COUPLES COUNSELING IN
NEW ORLEANS

In-person couples counseling in New Orleans and online therapy throughout Louisiana and Mississippi

“A healthy relationship requires constant care and communication. It’s not about being perfect, but about being present, understanding, and choosing each other every day.”

What to Expect in Couples Therapy

Couples therapy provides a supportive, balanced space where both partners can feel heard and better understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck. Whether you’re struggling with communication, recurring conflict, emotional distance, trust, or simply feeling disconnected from one another, we’ll work together to understand what is happening beneath the surface.

In our initial sessions, we’ll explore your relationship, identify your goals, and begin developing practical ways to improve communication and strengthen your connection. I draw from both the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), tailoring our work to the needs of your relationship.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): Deepening Emotional Bonds

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps couples understand the emotional patterns that can lead to conflict, distance, and disconnection. Rather than focusing only on the argument itself, EFT helps us look beneath the surface at the emotions and needs that may be driving those patterns.

Through this process, couples can learn to communicate more openly, respond to one another with greater understanding, and rebuild a stronger sense of trust and emotional connection. EFT can be especially helpful for couples who feel stuck in the same conflicts or who have begun to feel more like roommates than partners.

Gottman Method

Gottman Method

The Gottman Method is a research-based approach to couples therapy that provides practical tools for improving communication, managing conflict, and strengthening friendship and intimacy.

Using Gottman strategies, I help couples recognize patterns that are keeping them stuck, communicate more effectively, and learn healthier ways to navigate disagreements. We may also work on rebuilding trust, increasing affection and connection, and creating a stronger sense of partnership.

Is Couples Therapy Right for You?

Couples therapy can be helpful at many different stages of a relationship. You don't have to wait until your relationship is in crisis to reach out. Couples often seek therapy when they are:

  • Struggling with recurring arguments or communication issues

  • Trying to rebuild trust after infidelity or betrayal

  • Feeling disconnected or distant from one another

  • Struggling with intimacy or affection

  • Navigating a major life transition or change

  • Wanting to strengthen an already good relationship

Therapy can help you better understand the patterns that keep you stuck and learn new ways of communicating and connecting. My goal is to help you and your partner feel heard, understood, and better equipped to navigate challenges together.
